Artificial Intelligence for Society

At Rutgers–New Brunswick, the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Society is highlighted by our commitment to enhancing data science capabilities, promoting ethical practices, jointly driving cyberinfrastructure and AI research forward, and fostering community engagement in a transdisciplinary approach. We are committed to work that involves scholars from multiple disciplines – humanities, arts, social sciences, and STEM – in a collaborative partnership. Together, we collectively define and explore new opportunities, such as conceptual frameworks and theoretical models, that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries to create a positive impact for the greater good.

Cyberinfrastructure and AI for Science and Society (CASS)

CASS serves as a catalyst to foster creative achievements in research and education by breaking down academic silos, enabling interdisciplinary collaboration, fostering partnerships across diverse domains, and attracting external funding. It achieves this through funding seed projects, a vibrant seminar and symposium series, multiple boot camps, and ideation and incubation opportunities. CASS provides unique interdisciplinary training opportunities for students and early career scientists through supported projects.

SOCRATES At Rutgers Day

Socially Cognizant Robotics for a Technology Enhanced Society (SOCRATES)

SOCRATES is the Rutgers Robotics NRT (National Research Traineeship) awarded September 2020. This program will create a new vehicle for graduate training and convergence research that integrates the technology domains of robotics with social and behavioral sciences, including psychology, cognitive science and urban policy planning.
