Yuane Jia

Biography
Dr. Yuane “Joy” Jia is an assistant professor of quantitative methods at Rutgers Health-School of Health Professions, where she has been an integral part of the Methodology and Statistical Support Team (MSST) since 2019. She holds a Ph.D. in Research Methods, Statistics, and Evaluation from the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia. She specializes in the application of advanced statistical modeling to address educational and health-related inquiries. Her broad background in education and psychology, coupled with specific training in quantitative methods and statistics, enables her to apply these methods across various disciplines. Her expertise includes latent variable modeling, scale development and validation, psychometrics, study designs, and multilevel data analysis.
Yuane has served as a methodological and statistical co-investigator on over 10 projects addressing health-related issues, psychological and educational practices. She has actively mentored numerous faculty members in developing their scholarly agendas, particularly in scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), and has supported health researchers in addressing important clinical questions using advanced quantitative techniques. Her interdisciplinary collaboration skills have been honed through extensive involvement in large-scale projects, including statewide assessments of school climate and safety, and the implementation of threat assessment in Virginia public schools. Additionally, she is an emerging thought leader in AI and data science, leveraging these technologies to enhance research methodologies and drive innovation in health professions education.
