Sonal Pandey
Biography
Dr. Sonal Pandey is a faculty member in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) at Rutgers University, whose research sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data science, and economics. She developed a personalized AI learning tool that integrates course materials to enhance students’ problem-solving and academic outcomes, and, as a Co-PI on an IRB-approved study on AI tools in academic tasks, she investigates how AI can drive personalized learning and student success in economics education. Her research further spans AI-led supply chain optimization in the food industry, the application of AI in sustainable agriculture as a contributor to an NSF-aligned project on AI and energy-efficient soil health monitoring, and the evolving role of AI in the broader digital economy. She serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, Lead Guest Editor for a special issue of the journal on the role of AI in the food industry post-pandemic, and a Pod Mentor for the NSF I-Corps Hub Northeast Region. She guides student innovation teams in translating AI-driven research into real-world applications.
