The Rutgers Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (RAD) Collaboratory

Biography

Laurent Burlion received the Ph.D. degree in nonlinear control from the University of Paris Saclay, France, in 2007. He was a Scientific Researcher with The French Aerospace Lab, Toulouse, France. In 2019, he joined the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, USA, and was recently promoted to the rank of Associate Professor. At Rutgers, he works with the STAR club on a nano-satellite project to apply machine learning to satellite attitude control. A primary goal of this mission is to acquire critical zero-gravity fluid data, which will be utilized to improve the modeling and control of fluid slosh in space. His research interests include nonlinear control design to uncertain systems and is motivated by aerospace applications, including spacecraft and aircraft. Dr. Burlion is a Member of the IEEE-CSS Technical Committee on Aerospace Controls and the IFAC Technical Committee on Aerospace. He is currently an Associate Editor for Control Engineering Practice.
