The Rutgers Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (RAD) Collaboratory

Biography

Dr. Androulakis is a Biomedical Engineering, Chemical & Biochemical Engineering Professor at Rutgers University. He is also a Graduate Faculty in the Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Ernst Mario School of Pharmacy of Rutgers as well as an Adjunct Professor in the Departments of Surgery at the RWJ—Rutgers Medical School. He received his BS in Chemical Engineering from NTUA and his MS and Ph.D. from Purdue University. He was a research associate at Princeton University before joining ExxonMobil’s Corporate Strategic Research Laboratories. In 2004 he moved back to academia and he has since been at Rutgers. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and was recently elected Fellow of the International Society of Pharmacometrics. He has published extensively in quantitative systems biology and quantitative systems pharmacology.

His research interests center on leveraging machine learning techniques to analyze behavioral data, with a particular focus on detecting disruptions in biological rhythms and evaluating their impact on health outcomes. By integrating methods from infodemiology, which involves the study of health information and its distribution through digital platforms, he also explores how online health behaviors and trends reflect broader population health. This multifaceted approach aims to provide insights into the ways digital health data can be harnessed to predict and mitigate health disruptions, improve disease surveillance, and inform public health strategies.
