The Rutgers Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (RAD) Collaboratory

Biography

Dr. Kelvin Kwan is an Associate Professor of Cell Biology and Neuroscience and the Director of the Center for Collaborative Neuroscience at Rutgers University. Dr. Kwan’s academic journey spans premier research institutions, beginning with a B.S. in Biology from Caltech and a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Harvard University. He completed extensive postgraduate and instructional training in sensory and auditory neuroscience at Harvard Medical School before joining the faculty at Rutgers University in 2012.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kwan has spearheaded multi-investigator collaborations to solve complex biological puzzles, ranging from genomic instability and somatosensory pain mechanisms to inner ear regeneration. As a leader in collaborative neuroscience, his modern research program bridges wet-lab molecular biology with advanced computational frameworks, utilizing high-dimensional data science, advanced imaging, and single-cell sequencing analytics to map cellular trajectories and restore sensory function.
