Jed H. Pixley
Associate Professor, Director of the Center for Materials Theory
Biography
Dr. Pixley received a B.S. in Physics and a B.A. in Pure Mathematics from University of California, Santa Cruz, followed by a Ph.D. in Physics from Rice University (2014) specializing in condensed-matter theory. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Condensed Matter Theory Center, University of Maryland, he joined Rutgers University’s Physics & Astronomy faculty. Promoted to Associate Professor in 2022, he now leads the Center for Materials Theory.
His research focuses on theoretical studies of quantum many-body systems, with particular interests in correlated and topological phases, quantum criticality, disorder and localization, and non-equilibrium quantum dynamics. He leads a diverse research group at CMT and maintains active involvement in mentoring, collaborations, and leadership within the group.
