Biography
Roger Wang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rutgers University. His research centers on artificial intelligence–enabled sensing, modeling, and decision-making systems for climate, environmental, and infrastructure applications. He specializes in physics-informed and explainable AI, integrating machine learning with physical principles to improve model robustness, interpretability, and real-world deployment.
Dr. Wang’s work spans Earth observation and environmental sensing, urban and coastal environmental systems, renewable energy, and natural disaster analysis, with a focus on bridging the sim-to-real gap through data assimilation, model calibration, and emerging sensing technologies. Through participation in the RAD Collaboratory, he aims to advance interdisciplinary collaboration in responsible and impact-driven AI, supporting solutions that address sustainability, resilience, and societal challenges.
