The Rutgers Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (RAD) Collaboratory

Congratulations to RAD Collaboratory Area Lead Dr. Kristin Dana on Receiving the Edison Patent Award

We are proud to announce that Dr. Kristin Dana, RAD Collaboratory Area Lead – Artificial Intelligence for Society and Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been awarded the Emerging Technology Edison Patent Award by the Research & Development Council of New Jersey. The award recognizes her patented innovation, “Light-Field Messaging to Embed a Hidden Message Into a Carrier” (U.S. Patent 11,790,475 B2), developed with Dr. Eric Wengrowski. Their work led to the founding of Steg.AI, which creates AI-powered forensic watermarking to protect digital media.

Dr. Dana received this honor alongside fellow Rutgers researchers Dr. Daniel Kopp and Dr. Richard Riman, who were recognized for their sustainable cement production technology, now being advanced through the Rutgers startup Queens Carbon.
