Biography

Dr. Sheila Borges Rajguru’s career began in microbiology and immunology research and then segued into STEM teaching and learning. She has held leadership positions in research centers; has served as a principal investigator for federal, foundation, and corporate sponsored programs in engineering education – specifically in robotics, computational thinking, and wireless technology.

Her contributions include her involvement in the COSMOS education and outreach initiatives during her tenure at NYU, where she played a pivotal role in shaping program direction and the research broader impact. Additionally, she served as a principal investigator (MPI) for the national Verizon 5G Ed Tech Challenge, demonstrating her commitment to advancing innovative educational solutions. These were joint projects involving RutgersColumbia, and NYU – all of which coincidentally are her alma maters.

Dr. Borges Rajguru is deeply committed to exploring the intersection of data science and artificial intelligence within educational crosscutting conceptual frameworks. She has been a global keynote speaker for addressing the barriers to STEM education and proposing equitable, inclusive, and transdisciplinary educational policy solutions.
