The Rutgers Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (RAD) Collaboratory

Biography

Dr. Ahmed Aziz Ezzat is an Assistant Professor of Industrial & Systems Engineering at Rutgers University and the Director of the Renewables & Industrial Analytics (RIA) research laboratory located in Richard Weeks Hall of Engineering, wherein research and educational activities are conducted to address key technical challenges of renewable energy and industrial systems through an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Operations Research (OR) lens. His research group specializes in developing AI/OR models and solutions for renewable energy forecasting and operation, as well as data-driven condition monitoring, diagnostics, and prognostics for renewable energy and industrial systems. Before joining Rutgers, Dr. Aziz Ezzat received his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 2019, and his B.Sc. degree from Alexandria, Egypt, in 2013, both in Industrial Engineering. He is the recipient of the A. Walter Tyson Assistant Professorship award from Rutgers University, the 2024 IISE Excellence in Teaching Award in Operations Research, the 2022 IISE Data Analytics Teaching Award, the 2020 IIF-SAS® research award, and a 2020 Rutgers OAT Teaching Award. His research has been supported by several grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and National Offshore Wind Research and Development Consortium (NOWRDC), U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), The NJ Economic Development Authority (NJ EDA), as well as industry. Recently, he has received pilot seed funding from the Office for the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR) to pioneer new AI/ML models that can support the co-existence of offshore wind energy systems with their marine eco-systems.
