Matthew Weber
Biography
Matthew Weber is a Professor in the Department of Communication, School of Communication and Information, Rutgers University. Matthew is a computational social scientist studying organizational change and media. Recent work includes a longitudinal project mapping ecosystems of local news in communities and examining the impact of news and information on local policymaking processes. Matthew is also leading an initiative to map and analyze changes in media production in the US. Matthew’s research has contributed to advances in topic modeling, geolocation and large-scale textual analysis. In his prior research, Matthew examined change strategies employed by media organizations, and the interconnection between news media content and policymaking processes. He has received funding from The Democracy Fund, National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, Knight Foundation and William T. Grant Foundation, among others. Matthew received his PhD in 2010 from the Annenberg School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Southern California.
