SUMMARY:AI/DL Tutorials: Distributed Neural Network Training
DESCRIPTION:The RAD Collaboratory is pleased to invite you to apply for a seat in four related Hands-on Artificial Intelligence/Deep Learning (AI/DL) Tutorials. \nInstructors: \n\nDr. Zhao Zhang\, Assistant Professor\, School of Engineering – ECE\nDr. Stephen K. Burley\, University Professor\, School of Arts and Sciences – C&CB\n\nDescription of Training Program:\nFour related in-person hands-on tutorials scheduled throughout Spring Semester 2025 will help prepare Rutgers masters students\, PhD students\, postdoctoral fellows\, and faculty for success in research utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning (DL) tools. We will use the Frontera supercomputer for hands-on exercises that reinforce learnings from short informative lectures. \nTutorial Dates/Topics:\nI. February 18th – Introduction to Deep Learning\nII. March 18th – Introduction to PyTorch\nIII. April 15th – Distributed Neural Network Training\nIV. April 29th – Large Language Models and their Applications in Science and Engineering \nWe will be using TACC Frontera RTX 5000 GPUs for all four Tutorials. You must have a Frontera account to run the hands-on exercises. Applicants who do not already have a TACC account must request one at https://tacc.utexas.edu/portal/login?from=/portal/. Getting approval and setting up the multi-factor authentication may take a few days. \nTutorials will be limited to 50 participants. Apply at: https://go.rutgers.edu/4gxadebw. Applications are due by Wednesday\, February 12\, 2025 at 11:59pm EST.

SUMMARY:Seminar: Diamond: Democratizing Large Foundation Model Training for Science
DESCRIPTION:The Rutgers University Institute for Quantitative Biomedicine in collaboration with the RAD Collaboratory and the Protein Data Bank invite you to the following seminar: \n  \nZhao Zhang\, Rutgers University \nDiamond: Democratizing Large Foundation Model Training for Science \nWednesday\, April 16 | 12:00 PM \nIn Person: Proteomics Building\, Room 120\nZoom: go.rutgers.edu/gvyyc2xu \nAbstract: \nDiamond is a service designed to facilitate large model training across GPU clusters for scientists. It exposes web user interface to build container images\, manage training jobs\, monitor job progress\, and manage data and provenance across clusters. Diamond relies on Globus Auth\, Globus Transfer/Search\, and Globus Compute for authentication\, data management\, and container/job management. So far\, Diamond has been tested on NCSA Delta\, TACC Frontera\, and Lonestar6. We aim to release the alpha version of Diamond in early April and to support all NAIRR Pilot GPU resources. In this talk\, I will show a demo of running OpenFold using Diamond and discuss various opportunities of applying modern deep learning techniques for structural biology.
